All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness; that the man of God may be mature, equipped for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Have you taken time lately to praise and glorify God for his wonderful gift of the Bible? Have you thanked him for his written revelation of himself and his plan?

As surely as God meets the physical needs of this earth with sunshine and rain, his written-down condensed thoughts and plans, although vastly higher than any human thinking or planning, meet basic human needs for purpose, knowledge, and faith.

The Bible shows us a communicating God. He cares enough to communicate. He cares enough to explain himself. He cares enough to clarify his intents and plans. He does this in a clear, unchanging, faithful, dependable Word, and this Word challenges and corrects, trains and teaches, refreshes and renews, enlightens and equips for every good work.

God is not silent. God is still today a communicating God, speaking as we attentively hear his Word, as we read and meditate with listening hearts. When the Psalmist rejoiced in the opportunity to hide God's Word in his heart, he was celebrating the grand privilege of having God's available Word--blessing, sustaining, guiding, keeping us from sin, allowing us to assist others.

With six months remaining in this year, this is an excellent time to renew our commitment to listening to God and finding nournishment and sustenance for our spirits in his Word. Will you join me in renewing our commitment to hear God?

Thank you, God, that in your Word we hear your voice and see you face to face. Thank you for revealing your will. Thank you for guiding my life. Thank you for showing me ways to serve.
Help me, God, through your Word to develop deep faith, courageous confidence, and strength of spirit. Thank you for your inspired Word which nourishes and guides me. Thank you for the presence of your Holy Spirit through your Word which is changing me each day into your image more and more.
In the name of your living Word, Jesus. Amen.
