Are You In Love?

The title of the article caught my eye: "Are you in love?" I expected information helpful to those dating, or urging stronger marriages and families. I was surprised, but not disappointed.

A circus veteran revealed to the youthful trapeze novice the secret of success on the high bars: "Throw your heart over the bars and your body will follow." In every endeavor those who genuinely put their hearts into the work are the real leaders. Unless one really loves his work, enjoys it, relishes it, and is eager to get to the job each morning, he will not make much of a mark in that field. Falling in love is the secret of successful leadership.

Burbank fell in love with plants. Edison loved creativity. Ford fell in love with the automobile. The Wright brothers fell in love with flying.

The church needs people who are in love. Deacons who are in love with service. Elders who are in love with the flock. Bible school teachers who are in love with their students. Members who will throw themselves wholeheartedly into new areas of work and ministry. The key is love. The Lord's work is not drudgery, toil, and labor to those who love the Lord and the work. Our service together is inspiration and joy and love.

Leaders are those who love best. Such is true of parents, of husbands, and of wives in the physical family. Such is also true of elders, and deacons, and preachers, and Bible school teachers in the spiritual family. Life is worth living to those who love. Lovers lead. "Are you in love?"
